Leander Texas Events

It's May, and the Leander Public Library is promoting an event where adult performers read LGBT books to young children. After the city of Leanders canceled its annual LGBT Pride Month event, a local church has decided to rent a public space in the library and host the event itself. The church says on its Facebook page that it invites parents of LGBTQ families and their children to attend, and that parents and LGBTQ families will be among the readers.

The first event was in June, but it was not the first attempt to hold a Pride Story Time at the library. The event in June was organised by the Open Cathedral Church, which had rented a room in the library as a venue. But the October Story Time event did not depart from its original schedule, forcing the city to close libraries while the Story Time program was underway.

This prompted the Open Leander Cathedral to rent space to host its first Pride Story Time on June 15 and its second event in October.

The Leander City Library is also planning its first Pride Story Time on June 15 and its second event in October. This is the first of three events at the library for the LGBT community over the next few months, with more events planned in September, October and November.
