On June 16, 1882, the Austin and Northwestern Railroad Company placed the city of Leander on the Elijah D. Harmons League and included it in its records as the "Elijah D.'s League." The city of Baghdad, Texas, was first surveyed in 1881, and the following year the Baghdad Post Office was established.
