how do you describe yourself? I have 2 degrees (elementary education and a nurse). I am a transplant from Ohio (Go Buckeyes!!!!) and moved to Texas about 4 years ago. Well...here I am, trying to figure out how to summarize myself for a personals website. A friend turned me on to this site, so I figured I'd give it a try and see what happens. She neglected to tell me, however, that I'd have to compose a novel about myself.

All right then, to work...

I am newly single and still consider myself a dad to my two step-children. I want to remain a part of their lives and am working to try to make that happen without violence on my part. (Just a joke.) I have a great personality, a little jaded sometimes, but who isn't. I'm mentally and physically capable of holding my own, but I try not to take myself too seriously as I hope you can all tell. I've been in Texas for several years, transplanted from Michigan. I enjoy Texas a lot, but I enjoy it a lot less when it's the middle of July and there's already been more than 20 100+ degree days, especially since I don't work in an air conditioned office.

Honesty is essential. So here goes. At first glance I look a bit imperfect. Why "settle for" an average looking woman, who happens to have been given the genes that keep her from being a supermodel, when you can have a "beauty queen/trophyâ??? So, not in a disrespectful sense, just how is that search going for you? I've been divorced since 2001. I'm a free spirit, single, tolerant and discovering life anew each day. My biggest failing (perhaps attribute) is that I am a genuinely nice woman. One day I was sitting at work in NJ just outside NYC with a few friends/coworkers. We were all from Texas and had worked together at a previous job there. One friend said NJ/NYC sucks and he is about ready to bail. The rest of us agreed that NJ sucks. Just think, if we lived in TX we could even have CARS, and traffic on the freeway would move faster than you can walk!

We talked to our boss. "NJ sucks and TX rocks!" we said. He flew out to Austin and looked at some office space. He signed a lease and flew back. "Work from TX if you want!" And so we did. And it was glorious. The company doesn't even do anything in TX. There is just a token small office space so that those of us that want to can live out here.

So here I am in Austin. I even brought my friends/coworkers with me. I worked with them in Houston, then in NJ, then in Austin. Now I just need more of a social life. Can I be a balanced moderate geek with a life please?

Random facts about me:

My high school life was unusual. I was home schooled and lived in the middle of nowhere at a missile test range on the beach in Hawaii. I didn't know any other teenagers the entire time I lived there.

My siblings and parents bought 3 houses on the same street just north of Houston, then there's another sister living 10 minutes away. I'm the only one who moved away (first to the NYC area, then to Austin).

I'm a simpleton. I don't know what the means, but I think it describes me quite accurately. I'm not into reading books... never have been. I'm always very envious of people that can sit there and read a book for hours. It took me over a month to finish the last book that I was reading.

I love Music, and can't get enough of it. I'm not into the "indie" scene because I'm probably not cool enough, and don't know what I'm talking about. I would love for someone to just sit me down and force feed me indie 24/7 until I can hold an intelligent conversation with a person at spiderhouse. I play a little guitar, but mostly drums. I listen to Queens of the Stone age, STP, Type-O, Opeth, Dreamtheater, Queensryche, Nighwish, Stam1na, Blood Stain Child, All that Remain... and my all time favorite, Days of the New and Alice in Chains. Thats my current music taste. Although I like some songs from Ghostland, I don't "get" songs from Ghostland. Do I need to be on drugs?

Movies are good too, classics like The Big Lebowski never die. "WHERES THE MOOONEY LEBOWSKI!?" I like John Carpenters work, They Live, another must watch.

I am laid back, relaxed, and always optimistic. A sense of humor about life is the most important piece to happiness, especially when times get rough. I grew up on a farm in a small town outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Austin eight years ago. I enjoy being outdoors fishing and hiking, and kayaking, but I also love to spend time at home playing games or watching movies. One of my favorie pass times is a night out playing pool or bowling. I love to run and try to run at least 3-5 days a week.

Before I start, I'd like to note that I highly doubt you're reading this, maybe stopping on the picture because I'm kinda cute. All it feels like is a sales pitch. This is just a bunch of surface crap that I notice about myself. You don't know if I'm lying, and there is no way to prove otherwise! Gotta love the credibility of the internet, right?

Well, I'm the nice guy type. I've got longer hair than pictured (down to my chin; it's curly too) but I'm not very proactive about taking pictures. I'm generally quiet, but I love philosophical conversations. Well, most conversation really. And debating, just to match wits. I'm very sensitive, but I've gotten enough experience to not let my feelings get bruised too easily. I try to be the peacemaker of any group I'm in. I daydream all the time. I love being creative, and express this mostly through writing and drawing. Don't care if it gets me anywhere, because my motivation lies elsewhere. I can be funny when the moment hits me, though I'm no comedian. Doesn't stop me from trying, however. Manners are important to me, though I tend to swear frequently. Most people seem to forget what "Please" and "Thank You" can do. Then again, forced manners don't work... That guy at the fast food place may have said "Thank You" but it sure did sound suspiciously like "fuck you."

I'm not much into concerts or bars/clubs. I prefer more intimate settings. I'm also not much of a drinker these days, I've done all social drinking that I can handle already. However I do have a bit now and then, whiskey being my favorite. The only parties I've ever been to are either the family friends type, or the frat-boy type.

I moved to the Austin area May of this year after I left the Navy, and I still don't know anyone, and I don't get out much (thank you economy and random bitch who ran me off the road, making me break my ankle). Though getting out isn't much of a priority since I've only just been able to start walking again. Yeah, I don't ever want to break my ankle again. Not gonna stop me from getting back on my motorcycle, however.

can one really describe themselves? I mean I know what i am it's just kind of hard to put into words. It's more of a you have to be around me to get exactly who I am. So as of right now i'm a music loving austinite who is single and has been single like FOREVER

I'm a happily divorced father of 2 awesome boys ages 6 and 8. I enjoy football (college and pro), tailgating and travel. I love all travel but my favorite place is the Cancun/Playa del Carmen Mexico area. I am a
bailbondsman, private investigator and bounty hunter. I really enjoy having fun anywhere I am, home, hanging with friends, watching a game at a sports bar or alone with someone special.

Extremely relaxed life style but I love Metal music and going to shows.
I am the Vocals for a metal band here in Texas. I enjoy learning about religions other ways of life and discovering new things about the world that makes it that much more fun to be in. I recently started doing firespinning and had my first public spin in December. No telling where I'm going but I'll have fun getting there that's for sure.
